EAS Antithefy Systems

“EAS Antitheft Systems” refers to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems, a technology commonly used in retail stores to prevent theft. These systems use electronic tags attached to merchandise, which trigger an alarm if someone attempts to remove items from the store without deactivating or removing the tags at checkout.

How EAS Systems Work:

  1. EAS Tags or Labels:

    • Attached to merchandise and emit signals detectable by the system.
    • Types include hard tags (removed at checkout) or soft labels (deactivated at checkout).
  2. Detection System:

    • Installed at store exits.
    • Creates a surveillance zone that detects active tags passing through.
  3. Deactivation or Removal:

    • Cashiers deactivate soft labels or remove hard tags during checkout.
